Rehab is hard work!

Cathy is making great progress.  She asked me to tell everyone that she appreciates those who have come to visit but she has requested that everyone please limit their visits to very short periods.  Yesterday she had  12 visitors, one after another, from Noon until 8pm.  It really exhausted her. She feels like she needs to talk to everyone but she is SO tired!  Let's all remember that Cathy is there to regain her strength and stamina.  She has really long, difficult physical therapy sessions and needs to rest after them.
The doctors are still working on getting her the most effective dose of medications. She is still having trouble sleeping but she is eating a little better.  She is drinking Ensure and also eating pureed foods.  Cathy is receiving swallowing therapy so that she can eventually swallow and eat regular foods.  Her head, mouth and eye still hurt a bit but not terribly.  The pain medicine seems to relieve this pain for her. The right eye is cleaned by the nurses a few times per day and when they open it for her she is able to see.  It is annoying and frustrating to not be able to see clearly.
Cathy is really working very hard to get stronger so that she can go home as soon as possible.  Steven is leaving to go home tomorrow and Cathy is very sad about that.  She has really enjoyed seeing him every day and spending time with him.  I just saw a photo of Cathy that was taken today and her hair is starting to grow back!  She looks like she is smiling!  Thank you God for saving her and keeping her in all of our lives.
Love, Linda

Hi Cathy,
I just want to let you know I am thinking of you. I’m following the blog and praying for you.
It seems like you have a lot of visitors right now. I will come out when things slow down. Hopefully you will be home real soon.
Love,
Frieda

Here are some words from Irma:
Hope you feel better soon and I’m very sorry about what happened to you.
Maybe we will see you soon. I will come with Frieda.
Get better every day.
Love,
Irma

I had so much fun seeing you Cathy.
I'm sorry if my visits were too long. I enjoyed being with you and letting you tell me whatever was on your mind. To me, the best gift I can give to you, is to listen.
You looked so wonderful to me and even in one days time you changed for the better! I'm glad I was able to donate a basket of Avon goodies and give them to Steven before he left for Austin. At least I feel a part of the benefit since I can't attend. You will continue to be in my prayers. I can't wait to visit you at home!
All my love to the whole family for all they've done, and of course there's still love left, a whole lot of it for you Cathy! ILY
