I spoke to Cathy tonight and she said that she is tired and depressed. She is frustrated because she is weak and is not progressing as quickly as she would like to. She also is suffering from a lot of anxiety right now which is normal after her ordeal. We all think she is doing GREAT!!! Cathy has very high standards and she does not realize the amazing strides that she has made in just two weeks! She is still having some trouble swallowing thin liquids and does not have much of an appetite. She is drinking some Ensure to get enough protein and nutrition. She is not enjoying the pureed foods because they are pretty bland. Cathy told me that Audrey has been pushing her around in a wheelchair and telling her how beautiful she is. Audrey is great motivation for her grandma to get better! Audrey is a very special little girl and Cathy will be home soon playing 'pretend' tea parties with her.
Cathy is having trouble sleeping so tonight she is being given some sleep medications. If she can get a good night's sleep hopefully she will have more energy tomorrow to get through the day. She is on an intensive physical therapy regimen to get back strength in her muscles. I personally think her mind is working fabulously and I am very impressed with her progress. Cathy says it is an effort to perform normal activities and even to talk for periods of time. Short, uplifting visits are great medicine for her so please try to stop by during visiting hours from 4:30 - 8pm. She is so lucky to have all of you, friends and family, who love and care about her.
Please give Cathy a hug and kiss for me. Wish I could be there RIGHT NOW!!! Stay strong and positive.
Love, Linda

I'm so glad that Audrey got to be with you! I know that you were happy to have her there. You have high standards, Cathy for yourself, just look at how hard you fought your way to this point! I cannot imagine how hard this all is for you and I pray that the visits you get will be uplifting and show you how much you are loved. When your friends and loved ones look at you they see the strongest person they've ever been blessed to love. I'm sure of that! You are a miracle, Cathy, and it's okay to beleive that about yourself too! You have inspired me to look at myself differently and it's all for the better. We will not let you falter as we all continue to hold you up in prayer. Keep those high standards, and in no time you will be home.
