Today was the first day of rehab and it was a tough one for Cathy. She had to really focus and work very hard which ultimately tired her out. She is still having some trouble swallowing which is a common occurrence after a head injury. She says that nothing she eats tastes good to her. She will have some swallowing tests and x-rays tomorrow to help plan additional swallowing therapy. She was a little depressed this morning because she did not know anyone yet at the rehab center. Cathy was able to look at her face in a mirror today. When she did, I hope she saw a strong woman with a lot of courage and determination, who beat the odds and made it through a horrific accident. I hope she saw the love in her heart that she has given all of us. I also hope she saw the many friends and family that will be there holding her hand when she needs one, and cheering her on to a full recovery! I hope she saw all of that, because THAT is all that matters! Hair will grow and scars will fade.
Cathy really perked up this afternoon when visiting hours began. She enjoyed the short visits with her friends and family. It helped her feel back to normal. Cathy, I wish I could be there with you now and give you a big hug. Every time I look at the clock I think to myself, "What is Cathy doing right now?" "How is she feeling? I hope she is getting stronger every minute!"
Tomorrow will be a better day and soon you will be home. Love, Linda

Cathy,
I am so glad you are doing well. I was so relieved to hear that you made it through your surgeries. I can not imagine going through something like this. You are a stronger person than I would be. I talked to steven the other day, and he said you were in such good spirits you were telling jokes. That is very good to hear. I want you and your family to know that I have kept you in my prayers and will continue. I hope you get to be home soon. Hang in there,
Nikki
Cathy,
I want to add an AMEN to what your sweet friend, Linda, wrote.
I pray that when you look in the mirror, you will see what all of us see! A strong, devoted, warm hearted, giving, special, loving, smiling, kind, beautiful person.
I am blessed to have you in my life! Thank You God, for having your healing hand upon Cathy.
