Seeing the Light!

Lisa stayed at the hospital with Cathy last night and said that her mom slept well. The most amazing news is that the surgeon opened Cathy's right eye, shined a light and she was able to see!  She could even distinguish the number of fingers the doctor was holding up! This is a real miracle since a few days ago there was no activity in that optic nerve.  Cathy has been able to get up and go to the bathroom a few times.  She knows she has a buzz cut and she knows she has scars but she has not seen her face as of yet.  She says she does not care about her scars, she is just happy that she is alive.  What a great attitude! The doctors may take the stitches and staples out tonight or tomorrow and that will reduce her head pain.  She says she is hungry and thirsty but she understands that she has to wait to eat until her swallowing test tomorrow.  If all goes well she will be released to Health South Rehabilitation tomorrow on Oakmont Road across from Walmart.  I know that those of you who will be in temple tomorrow for Yom Kippur will be thanking God for this miracle of life.  We almost lost this amazing woman.  Due to Lenny's quick action, the skill of the surgeons, the care of the nurses, the love of her family and friends, she has pulled through and will recover 100%.  Love, Linda

Linda, thanks again for keeping this blog updated. While visiting mom this evening, I read this blog to her as well as everyone's comments. She does not remember most of the events that were discussed on your daily updates, so this blog was a great way for her to understand what she has been through. She was also very touched at everyone's comments. I am so thankful that my mom has so many friends that care about her. She really enjoyed me reading this to her. Please keep it up as she is aware of all of the kind things you have been posting about her.

Thanks again everyone!

Steven

Cathy you have left me speechless tonight. Yes, ME, at a loss for words! How funny is that, huh?!
I am delighted, relieved, thankful for the news that you have sight in your right eye. I prayed for you at Temple today/tonight during silent prayer time. You are a miracle without a doubt! I am blessed to be a part of your recovery. Thank You Linda for this blog!
